Health/Nurse's Office

Hours & Phone Numbers

The Health Office is covered from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on school days. Our direct line is (585) 242-5170 x3. For attendance purposes call (585) 242-5170 x1520. The Health Office fax number is (585) 242-5201.

Medications

The Health Office may dispense prescribed medication to a student if we have a doctor's order, the medication is in its original bottle and a note from the parent giving permission. The medication must be brought to school and dropped off by an adult. Any remaining medication may not be sent home with the child. Many pharmacies will give a labeled bottle to be used in school.

Physicals

NYS Education Department requires an annual physical examination for new entrants, students entering grades K and 1, and the Committee on Special Education (CSE). This exam complies with NYSED requirements and is valid for one year through the last day of the month. The form may be faxed to Council Rock at (585) 242-5201. If you need a form, you may call the Health Office at (585) 242-5170 x3. Only NYS School Health Examination Forms are accepted.

Failure to comply with this state requirement could result in exclusion of your child from school.

Attendance

If your child will be absent, please call the attendance line. The 24 hour attendance number is (585) 242-5170 x1520. Parents should give the student's name, teacher's name and the reason for the absence. If a parent does not call, the school will call the parent/family/work to confirm the reason for the student's absence. Prompt arrival at school is expected of all students. Any student who arrives at school after 8:20 a.m. is considered tardy. Late arrival disrupts class and causes loss of instructional time. When a student arrives at school late or leaves early a parent/guardian must sign them in/out through the main office. The following list of circumstances are the only recognized excuses for legal absences.

  • Personal illness
  • Family illness
  • Death in the family
  • Religious holiday

For prolonged medical absences, please call the health office to discuss. For extended, non-medical absences, please call the school's main office.
