Steel Drum Band Performs at Council Rock

Posted Date: 3/26/25 (8:20 PM)

Council Rock Primary School first graders received a special treat in March. The Creekside Steel Drum Band returned to the school for an exhilarating assembly. The band captivated students and staff with a repertoire of popular songs.

The ensemble includes students between the ages of 15 and 22  and is led by Sarah Wendl, a music therapist at Monroe One BOCES. The Creekside School is a center-based program located at the Foreman Center for students with multiple disabilities. Within the 12:1:4 self-contained setting, students develop the academic, communication, daily living, and social skills that will provide the foundation for life-long success. One of the student-performers was Brighton’s Simon Barnes! His former teachers were thrilled to see him again.

Everyone was engaged in a toe-tapping and hand-clapping musical extravaganza, which was a wonderful part of Music in Our Schools Month!
