Are you interested in learning about a different culture and way of life? For more than 30 years, Brighton has been the only District in our area to host language interns from other countries! The World Language Department at Brighton is currently looking for three host families for our interns for the 2025-26 school year, and we hope you will consider!
This program is an incredible opportunity for our students and community. With the help of our interns, we encourage students to become global citizens and have a love for cultural differences throughout their lives. This year, we will be hosting interns from Spain, France, and Switzerland.
A few details about the program:
-The interns arrive in Brighton in mid-October and stay through mid-June. During their stay, they will be working with our teachers at Twelve Corners Middle School and Brighton High School to teach language classes and share their culture and first-hand knowledge with our students.
-The interns come to Brighton through the Amity Institute, a non-profit group whose aim is to build cultural understanding. They recruit, thoroughly screen, and sponsor each intern.
-Each intern is required to purchase medical insurance prior to their arrival
-Host families must be Brighton residents and be able to offer the intern a private bedroom and access to a bathroom (shared is fine)
-Families may host for the full year or partial year.
-Host families also provide meals, except for lunch on school days.
