Brighton High School hosted eight students and two advisors from Maccabim-Reut Mor High School in Israel. The students stayed with host families in the Brighton community and learned about our culture.
Students presented to Brighton High School classrooms, did a community service project with Food Link, and visited Niagara Falls, the Strong Museum of Play, and Letchworth State Park.
Teachers from Modi’in also visited Brighton schools through Partnership2Gether, a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester. Through a collaborative learning process, this program works to build bridges between individuals and institutions representing two different nations, creating cultural understanding.
Educators from Modi'in and Rochester work collaboratively to develop common goals, work plans, and joint activities with the purpose of creatively teaching about each other’s culture, history, and society. Several members of the Brighton faculty have participated in this teacher exchange program.
Israeli students will be visiting again Oct. 3-9. If your family is interested in hosting a student, contact Alpa_Khandhar@bcsd.org or Marla_Taplinger@bcsd.org.
