Important Announcement

Posted Date: 06/02/26 (12:30 PM)

It is with gratitude and heartfelt support that we announce that Dr. Tracie Glazer will be stepping away from her role as Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Instructional Technology, and Data Compliance to focus on healing and recovery following surgery related to an ongoing health challenge.

This decision comes after months of navigating significant medical challenges and undergoing multiple surgeries. As Dr. Glazer shared in her letter to the District, the decision was made after “deep personal and professional reflection” and is rooted in her desire to ensure that Brighton continues to have leadership that is “fully present and consistently available” to support the important work ahead. Even in this difficult moment, her focus remains where it has always been—on students, staff, and the success of the Brighton Central School District.

“When Dr. Glazer joined Brighton in 2022, we spoke about her rare combination of talents, experiences, and expertise,” Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan said. “Over the past four years, she has exceeded every expectation. She has provided visionary leadership in both the arts and instructional technology, helping Brighton continue its tradition of excellence while embracing innovation and new opportunities for students. Her leadership helped advance instructional technology throughout the District, including thoughtful work around emerging technologies, while also strengthening and elevating our already outstanding Visual and Performing Arts programs.”

Dr. Glazer has been a tireless advocate for student talent and creativity. Whether attending concerts, musicals, art exhibitions, performances, classroom presentations, or District events, she maintained a constant and visible presence throughout our schools. As Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Allison Rioux wrote in Dr. Glazer’s tenure recommendation, “Above all, Tracie is deeply student-centered.” She celebrated students not only for their accomplishments, but also for their effort, growth, and courage. Her enthusiasm for the arts and her belief in the potential of every child helped countless students discover their strengths and find opportunities to shine.

Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Glazer strengthened instructional technology systems, expanded professional learning opportunities for staff, improved data security practices, supported curriculum and program development, led important evaluations and planning efforts in the arts, and continuously worked to improve systems and experiences for students and staff alike. She did all of this while maintaining an unwavering commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

In her resignation letter, Dr. Glazer reflected that serving Brighton has been “one of the greatest professional honors of my career.” She wrote that she is especially proud of the “culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence” that defined the teams she had the privilege to lead. Those words perfectly capture the legacy she leaves behind. The systems she improved, the programs she strengthened, the students she championed, and the relationships she built will continue to benefit Brighton for years to come.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Glazer for her remarkable leadership, extraordinary service, and unwavering dedication to our schools. While we will miss her tremendously, our priority now is supporting her recovery and wishing her good health and strength in the months ahead. She will always be a cherished member of the Brighton family, and we will be cheering for her every step of the way.

Dr. Glazer’s departure is effective July 1. The District will announce next steps for leadership in this area in the coming weeks.
